Lessons from Deceitful Activism

It is increasingly evident that unfolding facts can expose the true motives behind certain so-called advocacies.

I initially reserved judgment in the discourse surrounding “Justice Crack,” seeking to objectively assess any perceived wrongdoing by the Nigerian Army, an institution that has consistently earned my respect.

However, recent revelations suggest a different narrative.

Popularity or advocacy must never be weaponized to advance political interests, particularly when it involves discrediting an institution whose sacrifices safeguard our national unity.

It is deeply concerning that actions allegedly linked to this movement may have been influenced by political affiliations, including attempts to sway personnel within the military.

Such conduct is inappropriate and undermines the integrity of a respected national institution.

It raises a critical question: why involve the military in what appears to be partisan engagements?

Equally troubling is the role of some supporters who, without fully understanding the issues, amplify misleading narratives and call for protests that risk inflaming tensions.

I firmly oppose injustice in all forms, however, addressing grievances must not come at the expense of weakening national institutions, especially the Nigerian military.

Attempts to incite or manipulate soldiers against their leadership or the government are dangerous and unacceptable, with serious consequences.

I urge citizens, particularly the youth, to exercise restraint and avoid actions driven by political motives or capable of disrupting public order.

Legitimate concerns should always be addressed through lawful, constructive and responsible means.

Nigeria belongs to all of us and its peace and stability must remain our collective priority.
