…CP Olatunji Disu Condemns Reckless Use of Firearms
A herbalist, Ismail Usman, from Kuchibuyi Village, is currently receiving treatment at Gwagwalada Specialist Hospital after sustaining critical injuries during a failed experiment to test a self-made ‘bulletproof’ charm on November 23, 2024.
The incident unfolded after a distress call was made by Shandam Michael, alerting the FCT Police Command. According to reports, Usman attempted to prove the effectiveness of his charm by shooting himself in the stomach with a locally made shotgun.
Tragically, the charm failed, leaving him severely injured. Responding swiftly, officers from the Byazhin Division transported the injured herbalist to Kubwa General Hospital before he was referred to Gwagwalada Specialist Hospital for advanced care.
During a search of Usman’s residence, the police recovered the homemade shotgun and several charms associated with the reckless experiment. Authorities confirmed that he will face charges for unlawful possession of firearms and attempted suicide, as stipulated under Section 231 of the Penal Code Law of Northern Nigeria.
