… Disu Calls for Public Vigilance Amid Ongoing Investigation
The Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Police Command has confirmed a tragic incident involving a suspected bomb explosion at Tsangagyar Sani Uthman Islamiyya School in Kuchibuyi Village, Byazhin area of Bwari Area Council. The explosion, which occurred at approximately 11:00 AM on January 6, 2025, resulted in fatalities and serious injuries. Following a distress call from the Sarki of Kuchibuyi, police operatives, including the Explosive Ordnance Disposal (EOD) team and the Area Commander of Kubwa, quickly mobilized to the scene. The area was cordoned off to ensure public safety and facilitate a thorough investigation.
Preliminary findings suggest that three men from Katsina visited the school’s owner, Mallam Adamu Ashimu. The explosion, attributed to an improvised explosive device (IED), tragically claimed the lives of two of the men while they tampered with the device on the school’s veranda. A third man and a female trader sustained severe injuries and are currently receiving medical treatment under police guard. The FCT Bomb Squad has confirmed the presence of an IED, with remnants of the device recovered from the scene. Mallam Adamu Ashimu has been taken into custody for questioning as the investigation continues.
In light of the incident, Commissioner of Police Olatunji Disu has urged residents to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activities or items to the police. He emphasized the importance of public cooperation in maintaining safety and preventing such tragic incidents in the future. Disu reassured the community of the police’s commitment to public safety and thorough investigation, calling for increased vigilance and collaboration among residents. The police have provided emergency contact numbers for reporting suspicious activities, and further updates will be shared as investigations progress.
