IGP Kayode Egbetokun Redeploys Three Police Commissioners to Key Commands

… Crime Buster Tunji Disu gets Federal Capital Territory (FCT) job

Kayode Egbetokun, Inspector-General of Police, has redeployed three commissioners of police to new commands The affected police commands are Rivers, Delta, and the Federal Capital Territory (FCT).

Olatunji Disu, previously the Commissioner of Police in Rivers State, has been transferred to the FCT, marking his new assignment as the head of the police force in the nation’s capital. Abaniwonda Olufemi, who had been the CP of Delta State, will now assume the role of Commissioner of Police in Rivers State, while Peter Opara, the former CP of FCT, will take charge of the Delta Police Command.

During Disu’s tenure as CP Rivers state there were a litany of achievements leading him to be named Police Commissioner of the year in April of this year. Notably, the Rivers police command neutralised Gift Okpara, a suspected serial kidnapper known as 2Baba.

2Baba was alleged to be responsible for the murder of Bako Angbashim, the divisional police officer (DPO) in Ahoada, Ahoada east LGA of Rivers.

In a statement released on Thursday, Muyiwa Adejobi, the Force spokesperson, said that the redeployments are part of ongoing efforts to “strategically emplace a police force well efficient for effective policing.”

“The posting of these strategic managers reflects the mission of the Inspector-General of Police to strategically reposition the Police Force and ensure maximum utilization of human resources available to the Force,” the statement reads.

The IGP further urged the newly posted CPs to diligently discharge their duties and adopt innovative strategies to address the security challenges in their respective commands.
