As we mark this year’s Workers’ Day, I join millions of Nigerians in celebrating the resilience, dedication, and invaluable contributions of workers across Kwara State and the nation.

Workers remain the backbone of our economy and the driving force behind development in every sector from public service and education to healthcare, agriculture, and small-scale enterprise.
Their daily sacrifices continue to sustain families, communities, and our collective aspirations as a people.
This year’s commemoration comes at a time of significant economic challenges. Rising costs of living, evolving workplace demands, and concerns about job security have placed considerable pressure on many households. These realities call for renewed attention to policies and actions that prioritize the welfare, dignity, and productivity of the Nigerian worker.
I commend the efforts of organized labour, particularly the Nigerian Labour Congress, NLC, the Trade Union Congress, TUC, and all their affiliates for their continued advocacy on behalf of workers.
Their role in promoting fairness, dialogue, and social justice remains critical to national progress.
It is important for all stakeholders government, private sector, and civil society to continue working collaboratively to create an environment where workers are supported, opportunities are expanded, and enterprise can thrive.
Strengthening skills development, encouraging innovation, supporting small businesses, and ensuring fair treatment in workplaces are essential steps toward a more inclusive and productive economy.
On this day, we are reminded that the dignity of labour must remain central to our shared values. Every worker deserves respect, fair conditions, and the opportunity to contribute meaningfully to society.
I salute the hardworking people of Kwara State and encourage continued commitment to excellence, integrity, and service.
Happy Workers’ Day.
