The Toronto International Film Festival (TIFF), running September 4–14, 2025, has announced its Classics program for its 50th edition, featuring restored films in 4K and a 35mm screening of Steven Spielberg’s Jaws to mark its 50th anniversary. Curated by Robyn Citizen and Andréa Picard, the program highlights influential works from global cinema.
The lineup includes Manoel de Oliveira’s 1942 debut Aniki-Bóbó, Bahram Beyzaie’s 1986 Bashu, the Little Stranger, and Satyajit Ray’s 1970 Days and Nights in the Forest. Other restorations feature T’ang Shushuen’s 1968 The Arch, one of Hong Kong’s first independent films by a woman, and Michael Almereyda’s 1994 Nadja. Ramesh Sippy’s 1975 Sholay also celebrates its 50th anniversary with a gala screening. Presented by MUBI and supported by Ontario Creates and the Canada Council for the Arts, the program brings rarely seen films back to the big screen.
Tickets for TIFF Members go on sale August 15, with the full schedule released August 12.
