MAJOR GENERAL ADEBAYO BABALOLA CONTINUES FAMILIARISATION TOUR, STRENGTHENS OPERATIONAL SYNERGY IN 81 DIVISION AOR

The General Officer Commanding (GOC), 81 Division Nigerian Army, Major General Adebayo Babalola, has continued his familiarisation visits to units and formations within the Division’s Area of Responsibility (AOR), with a strategic tour of selected formations in Bonny Cantonment on Tuesday, 3 March 2026.

At the Headquarters, Nigerian Army Corps of Supply and Transport (NACST), the GOC was received by the Commander, Corps of Supply and Transport (CCST), Major General ND Shagaya, who congratulated him on his appointment as the 26th GOC of 81 Division. He assured the GOC of the Corps’ unwavering commitment to providing robust logistics support to the Division across its AOR. He further noted that enhanced security in Lagos and Ogun States would significantly boost socio-economic activities within the region.

Earlier in his remarks, Major General Babalola stated that the visit was in line with established military tradition and his command philosophy of inclusive leadership and institutional collaboration. He explained that the tour was aimed at deepening professional relationships and gaining firsthand insight into the operational capabilities of formations and Nigerian Army establishment in his AOR. The GOC emphasized that logistics remain the backbone of military operations, stressing that no mission can succeed without efficient supply, movement, and sustainment frameworks. He commended NACST for its consistent support to the Division and solicited continued cooperation to ensure sustained operational readiness.

Major General Babalola also visited the Deputy Chief of Logistics and Director of Movement (Army), Major General SO Adejimi, where discussions focused on enhancing movement coordination, operational mobility, and timely deployment of personnel and equipment. He reaffirmed the need for sustained synergy to enable the Division to effectively discharge its constitutional responsibilities.

Recognizing the importance of moral and spiritual fortification in military service, the GOC paid courtesy visits to the Directorate of Chaplain Services (Roman Catholic), where he met the Director, Brigadier General (Very Reverend Father) AF Maimagani, and the Directorate of Islamic Affairs (DOIA), where he was received by the Director, Brigadier General U Musa. He expressed profound appreciation for their continuous prayers, counseling, and moral guidance, noting that spiritual resilience remains vital to troop morale and operational effectiveness.
The familiarisation tour concluded at the Defence Intelligence Agency (DIA) Annex Lagos, where the GOC met with the Director, Brigadier General AA Lawal. During the engagement, he underscored the critical role of timely, credible, and actionable intelligence in addressing contemporary security challenges within the Division’s AOR and called for strengthened collaboration in intelligence sharing.

The engagements were rounded off with the signing of visitors’ books, exchange of souvenirs, and group photographs.
