Following the withholding of presidential assent to the amendment of the Electoral Act by President Muhammadu Buhari and subsequent return of the bill to the National Assembly, the duo of President of the Senate, Ahmad Lawan and Speaker of the House of Representatives, Hon Femi Gbajabiamila are currently in a closed-door meeting with the President.

The meeting which according to feelers from the Presidency was at the instant of the leadership of the National Assembly was convened to find a possible common ground between the Legislature and the Presidency.
