…N500 Million Squandered in Six Months; Aigboje Steps In to Curb Excesses

A bitter family dispute has erupted within the household of the late Herbert Wigwe, with accusations of reckless spending, misinformation, and neglect tearing through the family. At the center of the controversy is the alleged squandering of N500 million by certain family members in just six months, as well as claims of falsehoods being spread by Aunty Joyce, a prominent figure in the family.

According to insiders, the N500 million was spent by individuals described as “dependents of Herbert Wigwe,” with receipts and records of the expenditures said to exist. When Aigboje, a close associate of the family, intervened to halt the excessive spending, he was met with resistance and labeled as “controlling.” Aigboje reportedly stated, “We don’t do things like that here. If Herbert had spent like you, there would be nothing left for his children.” Despite his efforts to restore financial discipline, some family members have continued to criticize his involvement.

The drama took a personal turn when Aunty Joyce took to an online TV for a no-hold barred interview where she spread false information about Herbert Wigwe. She allegedly claimed that politics was Herbert’s primary interest and falsely stated that the Super Bowl event where he met his ill-fated death was his first, when in fact, it was his fifth. She also said in the Interview that Aigboje, Herbert’s friend and business partner suspended the monthly stipend to Pastor Shyngle. These claims have been dismissed as baseless by those close to Herbert, who have criticized Aunty Joyce for her alleged tendency to misrepresent facts.

In a scathing rebuke, a source close to the family said, “If lying were a profession, Aunty Joyce would be the founder and CEO of the Aunty Joyce Wigwe Institute of Lying, Isiokpo, Rivers State. Rest assured, she and lies have become inseparable.”

The allegations have further strained relationships within the family, with some members being accused of neglecting their responsibilities to Osita’s widow and children after his passing. Only Herbert and Aigboje are said to have stepped up to provide meaningful support, with Aigboje mentoring Osita’s son, who is now attending the London School of Economics (LSE).
