On Saturday, 9th of August, 2025, celebrities will converge on Ogbugu, an oil bearing community in Onelga, Rivers State, to celebrate the 2nd year anniversary of President Tinubu in office. This is more than a football match it is a testament to the shift in political alignment in the Niger Delta. This area was once predominantly Obidient captured area.
During the 2023 presidential election, this area overwhelmingly voted for the Labor Party presidential candidate, Mr. Peter Obi, but in a major shift in political calculations Dr. Kingsley Ogu, a bigwig in Rivers State, especially in the Onelga area, recently declared support for President Tinubu’s 2nd term bid.
Dr. Kingsley Ogu is the national leader of the Enforcers of Good Governance, a group that has been described as the largest support group for President Tinubu in the entire Rivers State. Today, history is being made in the heart of Niger Delta as Dr. Kingsley Ogu organised a novelty match at Ogbugu in Onelga, Rivers State, in celebration of President Tinubu bold reforms. The match will witness selected Rivers State celebrities playing against Enforcers of Good Governance first eleven.
Meanwhile, many onlookers have linked the array of events being organized and sponsored by Dr. Kingsley Ogu in support of President Tinubu administration to his interest in becoming the next local government chairman of Onelga.
