… Reiterates Commitment to a United Nigeria
The All Progressives Congress (APC) UK Chapter unequivocally condemns in the strongest terms the recent actions of self-styled Yoruba nation agitator, Sunday Adeyemo, popularly known as Sunday Igboho, following his provocative visit to the UK
Prime Minister’s office to submit a petition advocating for the secession of the Yoruba people from Nigeria.
This misguided and reckless act by Igboho, who seeks to fracture the unity of Nigeria, is
deeply concerning and threatens to undermine the significant efforts made to foster peace, unity, and development in our dear country. His actions do not reflect the sentiments of the majority of Nigerians, including the Yoruba people, who remain
committed to the idea of one Nigeria.
The APC UK Chapter wishes to categorically state that Nigeria’s strength lies in its unity. We are a nation blessed with diverse ethnicities, cultures, and languages, and it is from this diversity that we derive our collective strength. It is this diversity that defines the greatness of Nigeria as a unified entity under one God, and we must continue to work together for the progress of all Nigerians, regardless of their ethnic background.
At a critical juncture in Nigeria’s history, President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, a proud son of the Yoruba people, is committed to the unity and development of Nigeria as a whole.
Upon assuming office, President Tinubu immediately set out to introduce bold and necessary reforms that will secure Nigeria’s future and position her on the path of sustainable economic growth, national security, and social welfare.
His administration is working tirelessly to address the economic challenges faced by all Nigerians and to ensure that each region, including the South West, benefits from a fair and equitable distribution of resources. He has prioritized national unity, promoting policies aimed at inclusion, national dialogue, and socioeconomic reforms, which are
crucial for the nation’s progress.
We encourage all Nigerians, both at home and in the diaspora, to stand firmly behind President Tinubu’s leadership and to contribute constructively to the ongoing efforts aimed at moving Nigeria forward.
The challenges we face today can only be overcome
by collective effort and unity of purpose. Divisive rhetoric, such as that espoused by Sunday Igboho, serves only to distract us from the significant strides being made by the current administration to ensure a brighter future for all.
The APC UK Chapter firmly believes that the calls for the disintegration of Nigeria by individuals like Sunday Igboho do not represent the voice of the Yoruba people or any other ethnic group in Nigeria.
His rhetoric of disunity does nothing but fuel tension,
create unnecessary fear, and breed animosity between ethnic groups who have coexisted peacefully for decades.
We appeal to all Nigerians, particularly the Yoruba people, to reject any form of secessionist agenda that seeks to create division and disunity in our beloved country.
Such agitations only serve to weaken our resolve to face and address the common challenges of insecurity, poverty, and underdevelopment.
The Path Forward: Dialogue and Unity
We urge Sunday Igboho and his followers to abandon their confrontational approach and instead engage in constructive dialogue within the framework of Nigeria’s democratic process.
It is through dialogue, understanding, and a united effort that we can achieve true progress for Nigeria. We call on all stakeholders to participate in the
ongoing efforts to strengthen national unity and foster peace.
The APC UK Chapter remains steadfast in its commitment to supporting a united and
indivisible Nigeria, where every citizen, irrespective of their ethnic, religious, or regional identity, has the opportunity to thrive. We believe that the only way forward is to uphold the values of unity, peace, and national cohesion, which are fundamental to Nigeria’s
continued existence as a nation.
In conclusion, the APC UK Chapter reiterates its firm belief in the greatness of Nigeria as a united nation under God. We must collectively reject any attempts to divide us.
Our strength lies in our ability to stand together as one nation, rising above our differences and working toward a common goal of peace, stability, and prosperity for all Nigerians.
Let us all rally behind President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and his administration as they work to restore Nigeria’s greatness and fulfill the vision of a prosperous and united nation.
