Governor Uba Sani today presented the Kaduna State 2026 Budget Estimates to the House of Assembly. The proposed budget stands at N985,915,136,574.60 and is designed to consolidate progress across security, infrastructure, education, health, agriculture and social development.

The budget prioritises capital development with 71% allocated to capital expenditure and 29% to recurrent spending. Education and Infrastructure each receive 25% of the total budget. Health receives 15%, Agriculture and Food Security 11%, Security 6%, Social Development 5%, Environment and Climate Action 4%, and Governance and Administration 5%.
Key excerpts from the Governor’s presentation include:
- “We initiated 140 road projects covering 1,335 kilometres under the Roads Development Initiative. Sixty-four of these roads have been completed and opened to the public.”
- “Kaduna is implementing the first Bus Rapid Transit system in Northern Nigeria. The 24-kilometre corridor, CNG-powered buses, digital ticketing systems and modern terminals represent a new phase in urban mobility.”
- “Over N500 million has been saved by citizens through free and subsidised transport.”
- “Our administration reopened 535 schools and returned more than 300,000 out-of-school children to the classroom. We built 736 new classrooms, renovated 1,220, fenced 39 schools, drilled 165 boreholes and provided 595 VIP toilets.”
- “We are upgrading all 255 Primary Healthcare Centres to Level 2 standard, while 15 General Hospitals are undergoing reconstruction or major upgrades. Five of these hospitals have been completed.”
- “The 300-bed Bola Ahmed Tinubu Specialist Hospital significantly expands Kaduna State’s healthcare capacity.”
- “Agriculture received one of the largest investments in Nigeria, increasing from N1.4 billion in 2023 to N74.2 billion in 2025. More than 900 trucks of free fertilizer were distributed to smallholder farmers.”
- “We have contracted no new loans since assuming office, while paying N114.9 billion in debt servicing.”
- “Each of the 255 wards in Kaduna State received N100 million for community-identified projects under our participatory budgeting framework.”
The Governor emphasised that the 2026 budget is a budget of renewal, resilience and long-term vision, aimed at building a secure, productive and inclusive Kaduna State.
