The Kaduna State Internal Revenue Service delegation was granted audience by the Kaduna State Council of Traditional Rulers, under the Chairmanship of His Royal Highness, the Emir of Zazzau, Amb. Ahmad Nuhu Bamalli together with members of the Council in Zaria.
The KADIRS delegation had a fruitful session with the Council of Traditional Rulers, with a comprehensive slides presentation from the KADIRS Executive Chairman Dr. Zaid Abubakar.
The Presentation unveiled the concept/meaning of development levy, those expected to pay the development levy, the role of traditional institution in the regime of development levy, the composition of needs assessment committee, modus operandi of payment , the specific investment areas of the fund and the penalty for aiders and abettors.
Further more, the session was opened for questions, observations and recommendations from traditional title Holders, whereby the Executive Chairman responded wholeheartedly to all the issues raised.
In view of the above, the Emir of Zazzau Amb. Ahmad Nuhu Bamalli alongside the Emir of Saminaka, Emir of Lere, Chief of Piriga, Chief of Kudaru and representative of the Emir of Kauru appreciated the effort of the Service and promised to support the initiative to it logical conclusion.
The delegation of the Service includes; the Executive Director Revenue Operations Dr. Muhammad Lawal, Executive Director Standard and Compliance, Alh. Ali Garba Gora, Legal adviser/ Board Secretary, Bar. Aysha Ahmad Muhammad along with other Unit Heads of the Service.
The official commencement date for economic development levy collection in Kaduna State is from 1st January, 2022 and all citizens of Kaduna State from 18years and above are expected to pay through the payment channels that will be available across the State.
