APC UK to Hold First Elective Congress in June 2024

…Historic Event to Unite Nigerian Diaspora in the UK
The All Progressives Congress (APC) United Kingdom Chapter is set to hold its first-ever elective Congress from June 27 to 29, 2024.

This landmark event will be the first time a Nigerian political party conducts an elective Congress in the Diaspora, marking a significant milestone for the APC and Nigerians abroad.

“This development stands as a testament to the leadership of His Excellency, Dr. Abdullahi Ganduje, and the National Working Committee, who have worked tirelessly to unite our members in the UK,” said Cllr Tunde Ajisola, a member of the Interim Committee of the APC UK Chapter.

The party had initially planned the APC UK Congress for January 13, 2024, with details shared on social media in November 2023.

Members responded promptly, especially those aspiring to become executives, by obtaining the necessary forms from the Party HQ in Abuja.

The January Congress, held in Kensington, West London, saw Senator Dr. Ajibola Basiru leading the NWC. In his address, Dr. Basiru highlighted that some interested members had yet to fulfill all requirements. “In the spirit of fairness, these members should be allowed to participate,” he urged.

An interim committee was then formed, led by Hon. Tunde Doherty and Hon. Joseph Adebola. The committee, established through a unanimous voice vote, was tasked with organizing an elective Congress to elect permanent executives for the APC UK within three months.

“This event is history in the making for our great party, APC, and for Nigerians in the Diaspora,” Ajisola emphasized. He noted that the expression of interest and nomination forms were kept open for interested members, ensuring inclusivity in the process.

Despite other engagements, the National Secretary will lead the Party NWC delegation to the UK for the June Congress. “Every Nigerian Diasporan Progressive is eager to be part of this historic occasion,” Ajisola stated, inviting Nigerians across the UK to participate.

The Local Organising Committee is finalizing the program of events, which will be made public soon.
